NOTICE OF INTENT TO BEGIN ENGINEERING AND ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES Project Title: HSIP: Palmer-Fishhook Road and Trunk Road TATE Roundabout Project No.: CFHWY00829 The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) has assumed the responsibilities of the Federal Highway Administration under 23 U.S.C. 327, and is soliciting comments and information on a project that would construct a single lane roundabout at the intersection of Palmer-Fishhook Road and Trunk Road, near Palmer, Alaska. The proposed work would include: Realigning Palmer-Fishhook Road, Trunk Road, and/or driveways Improvements to lighting Relocating or adjusting utilities Improvements to drainage facilities, including ditches, storm drains, and culverts Replacement or installation of: Medians, curb ramps, sidewalks, shared-use pathways, and pedestrian facilities (including ADA improvements) Guardrail and guardrail end treatments Signs, roadside hardware, and striping Vegetation clearing, grubbing, and landscaping This proposed project will comply with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act; Executive Orders: 11990 (Wetlands Protection), 11988 (Floodplain Protection), 12898 (Environmental Justice), the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, and U.S. DOT Act Section 4(f). Construction for the proposed project is anticipated to begin in summer 2023.
