In 1990, Gary and Donna Young began talking about starting a small bakery, with bread as the focus. They envisioned a friendly place where people would enjoy to coming to and spending time at. They thought and talked about it for almost 14 years, and finally in 2003, they concluded that they had to do it or else wonder what could have been. They opened the doors and called it North Star Bakery, with St. Herman of Alaska in mind, and "No idea of the challenges we were going to encounter" recalls Gary. After almost 10 years in business, Gary is reminded of a friends joke. He said, "Do you know how to have a million dollars? Start with two million and buy a bakery." At North Star Bakery, we make breads, cookies, pastries, cakes, pies, sandwiches, and more. We also cater events, both public and private.
