PUBLIC AWARENESS TRAINING - SUSITNA GUNNERY RANGE, POINT MACKENZIE Do you recreate or access lands near Point MacKenzie? A U.S. Army Corps of Engineers remedial investigation identified military munitions, also known as unexploded ordnance (UXO), at several study areas on the former Susitna Gunnery Range. The Susitna Gunnery Range was used for military training in the late 1940s-50s, with anti-aircraft artillery munitions fired from Fort Richardson, across Knik Arm, to the Susitna Gunnery Range near Point MacKenzie. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is providing UXO Awareness training with landowners and visitors.
